Faculty search at Bose Institute

Bose Institute was set up in 1917 by Sir JC Bose, the founder of modern science in the Indian subcontinent. It is Asia's first modern research centre devoted to interdisciplinary research and bears a century old tradition of research excellence. On our centenary, we are preparing to relocate our laboratories spread across our different campuses in the city to our new, state of the art unified campus. This is located in Sector V, Salt Lake and is in its final stage of construction.

We seek applications from exceptionally bright and motivated Indian nationals with a clearly proven and established record of independent high-quality research and commitment to teaching, primarily for the position of Assistant Professor. We welcome candidates whose research is aligned with our present research interests as well as those working in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research areas.

Our recent research has centred around the following programmes: (i) basic and applied microbiology, (ii) basic and applied problems in physical and environmental sciences, (iii) computational biology, (iv) molecular medicine, (v) plant functional biology of stress responses for improvement and exploring plant genetic resources (vi) structural studies and biophysical problems, and, (vii) systems biology. On our centenary, we have launched two additional futuristic interdisciplinary programmes themed around: (i) complex systems, and, (ii) systems and synthetic biology. Faculty can participate in more than one programme but are affiliated to one of the following departments/divisions: (i) biochemistry, (ii) biophysics, (iii) chemistry, (iv) microbiology, (v) molecular medicine, (vi) physics, and, (vii) plant biology.
